Sherri Zimmerman is a Pediatrician at Cary Pediatric Center and has been blessed to be a part of four annual medical mission trips with TWC-Haiti, encouraged by Martin Van Cleeff to be his sidekick on the first trip (to keep him from having to see kids while he’s there!). She joined the board of TWC in 2015. She is amazed by the work Stephen and Autumn Byxbe are doing in Haiti and is passionate about helping support their vision for the kids at the Agape House. As a result of her non-stop talking about TWC and her trips to Haiti, she has encouraged several of her nurses and fellow Eat, Pray, Love Bible study members to go to Haiti too.
She is married to Mark Zimmerman, a high school science teacher and has three children – Matt (23), Parker (15) and Maggie (9), adopted from China in 2007. Her entire family has a passion for missions – working in Zimbabwe, Bolivia, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Maggie can’t wait until she is old enough to participate too – she’s planning a trip with the Van Cleeff girls already! Sherri is a member of First United Methodist Church in Cary, NC and has served as a Sunday School teacher, Youth leader, State Fair Biscuit Maker, Lay Reader, Trustee and Building Committee Member there. In her “spare” time she enjoys reading, traveling, relaxing on the beach and Tar Heel basketball.
